Elmley National Nature Reserve spans 3,300 acres of wild beauty on an island in North Kent, just over 40 miles from London. The reserve itself is accessible by car only (or an hour’s walk!). Details on how to get there can be found below.

by road

There’s plenty of parking at the venue for guests, and the drive into the reserve is truly spectacular! Use the postcode ME12 3RW, but be aware that some sat-navs can be a bit quirky, and Google Maps isn’t always reliable as they sometimes mistake the road into Elmley for a footpath. If ME13 3RW takes you somewhere strange, try using ME13 3RN instead, or use What3Words: ///trips.mount.whirlwind. Before you head out, we recommend checking online for any travel updates—especially if you’ll be passing through the Blackwall Tunnel!

by train

The nearest train stations to Elmley are Swale and Sittingbourne. If you're traveling by train, we recommend arriving at Sittingbourne Train Station, as there is a taxi rank directly outside. Elmley is about 10-15 minutes away by taxi. If you plan on taking a taxi to and from the station, we suggest pre-booking in advance. Swale Station is closer to Elmley, but there are no direct trains from London and taxis are limited in the area (there’s not much nearby, and you don’t want to get stuck there with no way out!). Getting to Elmley

Below, you’ll find a mix of on-site glamping and off-site accommodation that’s local(ish) to the venue. While we haven’t personally visited these options and can’t vouch for them, they come highly recommended by the lovely team at Elmley. We’re confident they’ll be perfectly fine—if not a little basic!

Elmley offers a collection of beautiful bell tents for those wishing to stay overnight. Each tent accommodates 1-4 people and has shared facilities nearby. Top tip: The more people sharing a tent, the cheaper it gets! It might be helpful to coordinate with others to share and reduce costs.

For those who prefer not to glamp (or head home right away), the venue has recommended the following off-site accommodations.

A 15 minute drive to/from the venue and 6 minute drive from/to Sittingbourne station.

A 20 minute drive to/from the venue and a 11 minute walk from Sittingbourne station.

Hempstead House Hotel & Spa

No frills bed &amp; breakfast 10 minutes away from the venue in the little fishing town of Queenborough. Its basic but highly recommended by the folks at Elmley.

A 30 minute drive from both the venue and Sittingbourne station, Mocketts Farm offers a selection of cottages and is recommended for those travelling in larger groups.
